The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Special Session on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the Community Room in East Liberty. Roll Call; Merle Ackley, present, Jeff Rosebrook, present, John Brose, present, and Cindy Stalling present. Also present was Dave Cook, Bonnie Brose, Keith Montgomery, Kacy Welty, Terry Cook, Rhonda Cook, Eric Cook, Mary Cook, Trey Conley, Dave Frangis, Logan Brown, Jessica Gibson, and Sandy Wilcox. All stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the previous meeting was given to the Trustees to read prior to this meeting. Mr. Ackley asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes and then asked if there were any additions or corrections to the financial statements that were given to the Trustees from the fiscal officer. They both stand approved by the trustees. Fire Chief, Keith Montgomery gave Mr. Merle Ackley, trustee, 2 thank you plaques from the fire department for all the good that he has done for the department while he has been a Trustee for the past 20 years. Squad Chief, Dave Cook, has 3 girls that want to take the EMT class that is being offered by Clark State at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. The 3 girls are: Jessica Gibson, Abbie Angles, and Ashley Congrove. These 3 girls will have to sign a 2 yr. contract with Perry Township. The class costs $1,259.00 per student. This is a 150hr. class, will last for 6 months, and starts Jan. 13, 2014. After some discussion, Mr. Jeff Rosebrook made a motion to send the 3 girls to EMT class, seconded by Mr. Merle Ackley. Ackley, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Brose, yes. Fire Chief Montgomery brought up about the chains on the medic, they are not fixed yet. Bud was supposed to look at it and Chief didn’t know if he had or not. Jeff stated that Bud has looked at them and said that they aren’t any good and they no longer make them anymore. New chains for the medic would cost between $5,000.00 to $6,000.00. Chief said to just take them off. John Brose said that he could call Kalida Equipment and see if they can fix them or not. If not, Chief stated that Sutphen will be able to fix it. Chief thanked the Trustees for all we have done for the fire dept. this year. Mr. Kacy Welty reported that he will be moving into town next month. Mr. Dave Frangis thanked Mr. Merle Ackley for everything he has done for the fire dept. for the past 20 years. Sandy Wilcox and Jessica Gibson both also thanked Mr. Ackley for everything. Mr. John Brose wanted to know if Rod Cook Construction sent a quote for the Lodge Hall. Fixing the door, siding, chase around the electric. Mr. Dave Cook called Rod Cook and Rod gave him a quote of $7,000.00 and to not exceed $7,500.00. After some discussion, matter was tabled. Mr. John Brose reported that the stair chair application to BWC Grant has been sent in. Mr. Brose reported that we have a mess on T.R. 131; John had a picture of the mess. Whatever crop is planted in the field washes out on the road when we get large amounts of rain. This covers an area of about ¼ mile long. John told Mr. Furlong that we will go back to the County and see what can be done about this. John will take the photo he took of the mess with him. Mr. Rosebrook stated that he will call the county too. Mr. Brose brought up that he forgot to contact Personal Concept about purchasing their posters; he will call them on Monday morning. Mr. Rosebrook reported that he attended the BWC Safety meeting last Thursday at JVS. Trustees signed the TRC Contract allowing them to work on our trucks. Chief will call and get the trucks set up to start working on them after the 1st of the year. Mrs. Stalling had the TRC fire contract for 2014. Mr. Merle Ackley made a motion to accept the contract, seconded by Mr. Jeff Rosebrook. Ackley, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Brose, yes. Both copies were signed and Mrs. Stalling will send one back to TRC. Mrs. Stalling asked how many runs the fire dept. had this year? So far we have had 128. The Records Commission had a short meeting with finding no records to be disposed of as of now. Mr. Merle Ackley made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Mr. Jeff Rosebrook. Ackley, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Brose, yes. TOTAL OF BILLS: $42,800.01 TOTAL OF ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS $5,346.80 TOTAL OF INCOME FOR DECEMBER $360,297.62 Mrs. Stalling then Thanked Mr. Merle Ackley for the 20 years of service that he gave to Perry Township. He will be removed from office and then Mrs. Stalling swore in the two newly elected Perry Township Trustees: Mr. Jeff Rosebrook and Mr. Terry Cook. Mr. Merle Ackley made a motion for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Jeff Rosebrook. Ackley, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Brose, yes.
