The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Regular Session on Monday, December 8, 2008at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Room in East Liberty. Roll Call: Gary Baker, present, Jeff Rosebrook, present, Merle Ackley, present and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Melony Baker, Howie Kaiser, Keith Montgomery, Margie Cook, and Dan Ackley.
The minutes of the previous meeting was given to the Trustees to read prior to this meeting. Mr. Baker asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes and they stand approved as written.
Mr. Baker asked if there were any additions or corrections to the financial statements that were given to the Trustees from the fiscal officer. They stand approved.
Chief Montgomery reported that they need a part for the sump pump, it needs a new foot switch. Mr. Baker told him that it has been ordered.
Chief stated that Assist. Fire Chief, Doug Henry needs new turn out gear, his has gotten too tight around the waist. New gear would run around $2,000.00 for the set. Chief told him to go to FSS and get measured. Mr. Gary Baker made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. Merle Ackley. Baker, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Ackley, yes.
Chief stated that there is a new law that requires the firemen to wear orange vests over their turn out gear on a Code 4. He would like to have 10 – 12 vests on the squad. Chief stated that he is still looking as to where he can purchase big enough ones at. Mr. Howie Kaiser stated that they need to be the tear away type of vests. ( the ones with Velcro).
Chief reported that the light on the flag at the fire house is out again. Mr. Rosebrook will take a look at it.
Chief reported that the 120 hr. course that was discussed at our last meeting, he has firemen thinking about it as they think it will take up too many Sundays, and with them having to sign a contract with the Township.
Mr. Dan Ackley, zoning inspector, gave a zoning report. He talked to Bonnie about the combined meeting with the zoning boards about the Comprehensive Plan for Jan. 15, 2009 and we got the community room. Cindy will advertise this meeting.
Dan checked out Bev Wolf’s neighbor who is building a deck onto his home, and he did not get a permit. He told Dan that he would get with him and take care of this problem.
Mrs. Margie Cook wanted to know what Mr. Baker found out about the hole in her back yard? Gary got the camera and put it in Casto’s ditch across the alley from Cook’s and that ditch showed that it is plugged. So, we still don’t really know what is going on. Margie stated that since he ran the camera down the hole that their home smells like raw sewage and she said that her neighbor said that theirs does too.
Mr. Baker stated that we would have to dig it up next spring cause the tile is broken down in several places and needs fixed.
Mrs. Stalling asked Margie about how she was feeling and doing? Margie said that it looks like she is going to have to have another surgery (#3). She is going to a different doctor, she will be going to Columbus this time. She goes to the doctor this Friday and should find out something then.
Mr. Merle Ackley brought up about the stop signs that we discussed at the last meeting. Mr. Baker talked to ODOT and they checked their records and said that all the accidents at TR 143 and SR 347 that the car stopped and then drove out in front of another car which caused that accident. ODOT said that if they weren’t stopping then they would of put up some traffic devise. Mr. Baker talked to a Mr. Craig Eley with ODOT.
Mr. Ackley stated that he is getting a lot of positive comment about the Christmas tree in the Township Yard.
Mr. Baker reported that Countryside Mechanical has started on the new furnaces at the LodgeHall.
Mr. Baker reported that Mac-O-Chee Tree Service was out and trimmed some trees in the Cemetery and some of the roads.
Gary stated that the pumper is at White’s again getting worked on.
Mrs. Margie Cook stated that she has sent in the drug licenses.
Mr Merle Ackley stated that the mosquito sprayer needs to get checked out. The company is in Illinois. He would like to order 2 drums of chemicals for next season. Merle stated that maybe the company could service the machine when they deliver the chemicals to us.
Mr. Jeff Rosebrook wanted to know if we are going to replace the tables and chairs in the Community Room or clean the chairs that are there now? After some discussion, Mr. Rosebrook is suppose to get some prices on padded chairs. Mr. Merle Ackley made a motion to purchase new tables and chairs for the Community Room, seconded by Mr. Jeff Rosebrook. Baker, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Ackley, yes. Trustees decided to get 10 tables for the room. Chief Montgomery stated that the fire dept. will take any old tables and chairs for their meetings.
Mrs. Stalling reported that Mr. Mitch Current got hurt on a recent squad run. He fell on the ice and hurt his left elbow. He went and got checked out, so we will have a BWC claim on him.
Mrs. Stalling received a letter from the Union County Commissioners about a meeting on Dec. 15 @ 7:30 p.m. having to do with the Hi-Q Egg Expansion.
Mrs. Stalling brought up about the VFFDF members for 2009. Mr. Baker made a motion to leave it the same as last year, seconded by Mr. Merle Ackley. Baker, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Ackley, yes. Members:

Mr. Baker will be chairman of the board and Mr. Rosebrook will be the secretary of the committee.
We received our contract from TRC for fire coverage for 2009. Mr. Gary Baker made a motion to accept the contract, seconded by Mr. Jeff Rosebrook. Baker, yes, Rosebrook, yes and Ackley, yes. Trustees signed both contracts and we sent one back to TRC and we will file the other one.
We received our Road Mileage report from the Logan County Engineer.
We all agreed to have our year end meeting on December 29, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. at the Community Room. Mrs. Stalling would like to have all time sheets in by Dec. 26.
Mrs. Stalling, Mr. Baker and Mr. Rosebrook met with a representative from OTARMA this afternoon and she will be sending us a lot of paperwork on some policies that we need to implement.
