The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Regular Session on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Liberty Community Room and also on conference calling. Roll Call: John Brose, present, Terry Cook, present, John Baughman, present and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Doug Henry and on the Conference call was Kyle Brugler and Jason Epp.
All stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance
The minutes of the previous meeting was given to the Trustees to read prior to this meeting. Mr. Brose asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes and then asked if there were any additions or corrections to the financial statements that were given to the Trustees from the fiscal officer. All stand approved.
Mr. John Brose brought up that Mr. Don Lyon on T.R. 141 asked for a “Children Playing Sign” out on his road. There is a couple families out there with children. Trustees got the sign up. Thanks to Don Lyon for requesting this sign.
Mr. Brose brought up about the exercise equipment for the Park. It won’t be ready until September, which works out okay because we can’t get the concrete base poured until October. So,it will be ready next spring. The equipment will be blue and white.
Mr. Brose brought up about the life insurance policies for the fire dept personnel. They will each have a $50,000.00 life insurance policy on them. Mr. Brose would like to have all their emails so he can email them the paperwork on the policy. Mrs. Stalling had beneficiary paper printed out for each employee and they need to be filled out and returned to her and kept on file.
It was brought up about the new hires getting this policy. After some discussion, Mr. Brose made a motion that the new hires have to be through their 6 mos probation period and then they will qualify for this insurance, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
Mr. Brose reported that the buildings are still closed due to the Covid-19. We can have 10 or less in them, example our twp meetings.
Mrs. Stalling did get the Park Levy filed at the Board of Elections to be on the November ballot.
Mr. Terry Cook reported that Mr. Steven Lane called him about a military head stone for his brother Ranny Lane. He was wanting to know what the cost for the base would be. After some discussion, Mr. Baughman made a motion to do it for free since it is military, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
Mr. Cook brought up about fall dumpster day? It will be October 10, 2020 and Mr. Brose will call that company from Marysville to get the dumpsters.
Mr. Cook brought up about all flowers off of the graves by October 1st. He also brought up about foundation orders in by October 1st as well.
Mr. Cook stated that the Street Dance will be August 15 down at the firehouse This will also be garage sale day for the town.
Mr. John Brose had a check from the Masons for $126.91 for the stick flags they purchased off of us.
Mr. Brose received an email from the conference call company and they would like to have a donation. Mr. Brose made a motion to donate $50.00, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
Mrs. Stalling reported that she had called Wal-Mart and they will not let the Township charge stuff at the service desk. They told Cindy that we can get a paper and be tax exempt and that is the best they will do. So, if any of you are in there, stop and get that paperwork to fill out.
Mrs. Stalling reported that Mr. Steve Lithgo, Zane Twp Trustee called her and Zane
Twp want to sell their share of the crack-fill machine They want out. I told him that Jefferson Twp will have to be notified as they have a share in this too. After some discussion, The Trustees agreed to have the Contact Company come out and give us an appraisal to see what it is worth. Mr. Brose stated that Jefferson Twp wants rid of it too. Mr. Brose will contact Mr. Scott Armentrout from Jefferson to make sure.
Fire Chief, Mr. Doug Henry, reported that Medic 41 is at White’s getting worked on. He said that Medic 42 is working out really well.
Chief reported that the Utility Truck has been sitting outside and therefore has been having trouble starting. Chief said that the batteries need to be checked out and see if they need replaced. Mr. Baughman said he will go down and test them.
Chief would like to have some electrical work done in the dayroom, he would like to contact HBI Electric to do the work. He would also like to have an outlet put on the outside of the building for the utility truck to plug in to.
Chief brought up about the internet being so slow at the firehouse. Mrs. Stalling called Spectrum for some prices. Our CenturyLink runs about $249.30 per month and for Spectrum they quoted $219.97 per month. This is for 2 lines and the fax line at Cindy’s home. After some discussion, Mr. Brose made a motion to call Spectrum and change services, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes. Mrs. Stalling will call Spectrum.
Chief bought up that he had a quote from Zoll for an extended 3 year warranty. Mr. Kyle Brugler stated that he has been checking into this Cares Act money from the State. He said we can get 2 Lucas devises (which is like the auto-pulse) from the Cares Act money proving that it would keep hands off patients for CPR. These devices come with a 1 year warranty. 2 new Lucas Devices would be 1 for each squad. After much discussion, matter was tabled until we talk to the Logan County Auditor, Mr. Jack Reser and get his opinion on if this is an item that can be purchased under the Cares Act? Mr. Brose will call Mr. Reser in the morning.
Chief Henry reported that they interviewed 5 recently and hired all of them. 4 of them are either Medics, EMT’S and FF. one- Mr. Terry Taylor has already enrolled in fire class and is going to enroll in the EMT class too.
Chief Henry brought up that they would like to have a weight bench that folds up into the wall. He had a quote from Rogue Co for $2,300.00. Chief said he heard that the Company gives fire dept’s a break on the price. So, matter was tabled until Chief can get more pricing before the next meeting.
Chief reported that the new cabinets are in and more organization is being done. They got rid of the old cabinet.
Mr. Kyle Brugler brought up about a video laryngoscope, there is a new one with a pediatric option. Kyle thinks we could trade-in or sell the one we have now. He will get prices before the next meeting. Kyle really likes the pediatric option. To get the blade for it through Stryker would be $500.00.
Mrs. Stalling reported that Terry and her have passed their Public Records Training.
