The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Regular Session on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Liberty Community Room. Roll Call: John Brose, present, Terry Cook, present, John Baughman, present and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Bonnie Brose, Larry Wellington, Dan Coats, Linda Baldridge, Doug Mercer, Doug Henry, Chuck Boudrow, Jenny Boudrow, Justin Taylor, Sandy Wilcox, Krystle Current and Victoria Current.
All stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance
The minutes of the previous meeting was given to the Trustees to read prior to this meeting. Mr. Brose asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes and then asked if there were any additions or corrections to the financial statements that were given to the Trustees from the fiscal officer. All stand approved.
Fire Chief, Doug Henry had quotes for painting the firehouse. The one from H&H was for $12,217.00 and the one from Rick Conley was for $10,390.00. It was discussed as to what color to paint it. After some discussion, matter was tabled. Mr. Brose wants to paint it red and the firemen don’t want it red. These quotes are for priming and painting. It was brought up to remove the nails in the roof and put screws in it, as it has had some leaks.
Chief brought up about A-1 Able Pest Doctor coming to the firehouse to control pests, (flies,mice, bugs, spiders, etc.) There is a $500.00 initial set-up and then $75.00 per month after that. After some discussion, Mr. Cook made a motion to hire the pest control doctor, seconded by Mr. Brose. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes. We do not have to sign a contract for this service.
Chief had a quote from HBI Electric to replace the ceiling fans in the bay, add some outlets in the dayroom, a duplex box for the siren control,and the outlet where you plug the generator in. The quote was for $2,158.00. Mr. Baughman made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
Sandy wanted to know if they could put the lights on switches instead of pull strings. Chief will see if they can do this.
Chief had a quote from Bokescreek Fire Dept for their old dump tank. It includes the bladder and frame for $900.00 and we can use it for training. Mr. Brose made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
Doug Henry had a quote from CPI for the new floor for the concession stand at the Park. The quote was for $3,645.00 and it will take 3 days to do. Mr. Cook made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. Baughman. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
Mrs. Bonnie Brose reported that the Street Dance is this coming Saturday. Supper starts at 5:00 p.m.
Mr. Larry Wellington brought up that there is 3 fire members wanting to take a class for basic to advanced pump operations. The class costs $545.00 each. The class is Oct 6-10. Lauren Weber, Lucas Crisp and Justin Taylor are the ones wanting to go. Also Justin Taylor is wanting to attend a 3 day class for single engine, residential fire school. Will go through 2 live fires a day. Larry will have a definite quote and if anyone else wants to go by the next meeting.
Mr. Brose reported that the alley going down the middle of Kenny Peters property has been closed by the Logan County Commissioners.
Mr. Baughman reported that the foundation bases have been poured.
Mr. Brose reported that a group of volunteers from Valeo that wanted to do some volunteer work for the township. So, they painted the bathrooms at the Park, they painted both the inside and outside of the buildings. And did a very nice job.
Mr. Brose reported on the inmate that is doing community service for the Township. He has to put in 400 hours in Perry and/or Richland Townships. We are going to have him do some painting (some doors, etc.).
Mr. Terry Cook reported that we got word that our voting place has changed, we will start voting out at TRC at the Welcoming Center instead of the firehouse. Cindy called the Election Board to see who would be setting up the equipment and was told that the ones that deliver the equipment will also set it up.
Mr. Brose got a complaint on the gentleman that is letting the weeds grow on C.R. 154. Aren’t those noxious weeds? We don’t think they are. The only thing we can do is force him to have them mowed twice a year. The guys plan is to build a house out on the piece of land. Mr. Brose is going to do some more checking into this.
The Mason’s are wanting to purchase 2 signs for the corner of the LodgeHall to advertise events going on in the Township. They would like the Township to buy them and then the Mason’s will reimburse the Township. These signs are like $4,000.00 a piece and will be digital. They would like the Township to install them. They will be like 4’x8’. We need to check with the Zoning Inspector to make sure it is ok. After some discussion, Mr. Brose made a motion to accept their donation, the Twp will buy the signs up front and install them, and the Mason’s will reimburse the Twp., seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes. As long as it passes the zoning laws.
Mr. Brose brought up about putting the tables from the fire house up for bids. There are 8 tables to go. The tables will be up to the shop to be seen. Mr. Brose will advertise this on our website.
Mrs. Stalling had a resignation from Kacy Welty. Mr. Brose made a motion to accept, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
We received a letter from the Logan County Historical Society, they will be having a bicentennial parade in Bellefontaine on Sept 9 and they would like to have a parade marshall from each township. Mrs. Stalling nominated Mrs. Bonnie Brose to be our marshall for all the does for Perry Township. Bonnie will let us know if she will do it or not.
Mr. Brose brought up about the dump truck, it is sick. White’s said it was a master cyclinder and replaced it. It didn’t fix it so, Anderson’s said the transmission lines were busted and they fixed them. Mr. Brose said that Spain’s is ASE certified and he does DOT checks, to get him to look at it.
