The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Regular Session on Monday,   

August 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Liberty Community Room.  Roll Call:John Brose, present, Jeff Rosebrook, absent, Terry Cook, present and Cindy Stalling, present.  Also present was Bonnie Brose,  Linda Baldridge,  Joy Litteral, Doug Henry, Kyle Brugler, Larry Wellington, Karen Lyons, Don Lyons, Jenny Boudrow, Chuck Boudrow, Dan Coats, Dan Ackley and Mitch Current.

   Meeting was opened with all saying the Pledge of Alliance.

   Mr. Brose asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes and financial statements that were given to the Trustees from the fiscal officer prior to this meeting.  They both stand approved by the trustees.

     Mr. Larry Wellington reported that the new guy at the fire dept, Mr. Dean Adams dropped the fire dept today.  He may be moving out of the township.

     Mrs Joy Litteral stated that the county EMS did not meet this month.

Joy brought up about how horrible the mosquitos are.  She said you can’t even sit outside.  Did we change the chemicals or something??  We have not.  They stated that Josh is driving too fast through town.   Trustees will tell him to slow down.  Others agreed with Joy about them being terrible.

      Chuck Boudrow thanked the township for all they have done on the Lodge Hall.  And that it looks really nice.

      Mr. Dan Coats brought up that Chasity Harris will be going to fire school.  She will start next Sat and Sun. and will be the next weekend too.  The class is $442.00.  She needs to sign a contract with the township for us paying for her schooling.  She has fire gear that fits her.  Trustees agreed to paying for this class as long as she signs a contract. 

    Dan reported that they have interviewed 4 people for employment.  Caitie Fields, Jessica Duncan, Kyle Richards and Jason Johns.  They will be on a 6 mos probationary period.  They are doing their best, and they can not be there by themselves.  They are also interviewing another one on Aug 20. 

     This will have us having 6 new hires and we can see where we are and how things go from here.

     Mr. Dan Ackley gave a zoning update on the permits he has written.  Dan thanked the fire dept for what they did for Melvin Douglas, said everything was really nice.

     Mr. Mitch Current had a quote from Embrodiery  Design for t-shirts, Mitch said they are cheaper but they don’t last as long either. Fire Dept would like to go with Miller Graphics.  They are $18.00 per shirt and they will need around 30.    Mr. Terry Cook made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. John Brose.  Brose, yes and Cook, yes.

     Mitch brought up about the MARCS radios for the squad.  It would be $5,500.00 for that radio.  Mitch said they would like to have 6 radios and pagers, these will be good until the County goes to all MARCS.  It would be $11,000.00 for these.  Mitch said the old radios don’t work very good.  These quotes are from Bender Communications.  The 6 radios are not MARCS radios.  This would make us good until the whole county goes to MARCS radios.  Mr. Brose made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. Cook.  Brose, yes and Cook, yes. 

     Mitch reported that he’s not sure what is going on with the new grass truck.  It has taken longer to get it built from Ford.  Once Danny Sutphen gets it, he said we will have it a month after that. 

     Mitch said that the engine needs serviced next month.

     Fire  Chief Doug Henry had a resignation letter from Mr. Dave Frangis.  Township thanks Mr. Frangis for his many years of service to our township.  Effective July 1, 2017.

     Chief has some quotes for the new office at the fire house.  From Hi-Point for the electrical work for $ 2,900.00 for a small BTU burner box.  Also a split system- heat /AC for $3,397.00.  Brose made a motion for said purchase, second by Cook.  Brose, yes and Cook, yes. 

    Chief had a quote from Dry Lane Construction to put a window on the back side of the office for $1,555.00.  Brose made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Cook.  Brose, yes and Cook, yes.

     Chief brought up about a power lift and cot from Stryker.  They are working on getting prices for this.

     It was reported that the Keith Montgomery Memorial Ride is August 26 at 10:00 a.m.  They will be putting the engine up to the Cemetery, and they will parade past Keith’s grave in the Cemetery.

   The squad will be going to the Ben Logan football game Friday night.

    Mr. Terry Cook reported that the Lodge is done.

    Mrs. Stalling had copies of the audit for the Trustees.  They had already received a copy in their mail. 

     Mr. Terry Cook brought up about replacing Melvin Douglas on the Zoning Appeals Board due to his death.  After some discussion, Chuck Boudrow will replace Mr. Douglas, and Sandy Wilcox will be the alternate on the board.

    Mr. Brose brought up about the shooting range.  He had talked to Jim Shelton and a musket gun shot 200 plus yards.  The ball of the musket went inside the tube and broke it.  They don’t know who done this, the Sherriff’s Office is investigating.  He has paperwork almost ready to meet with the Zoning Board. 

    Mr. Terry Cook reported that T.R. 129 has been paved.

    Mitch brought up that his Mom, Ginny wants to know how the swimming pool issue is going?  We are no farther than we were last year with it.  We need to get the addresses and send them out letters. 

      Mitch brought up that for the fire dept’s personal checking account at West Mansfield Bank.  There is some issues with it.  Cindy needs to call and talk to Tarra Meyer and see what needs to be done. All Trustees are okay with the Fire Dept having their own account for the Keith Montgomery Scholarship.  

     Mitch brought up about the 28 day pay cycle.  He said we are going to run into trouble at the end of the year.  We are going to talk to the lawyer and see if can go to paying on a month to month basis for next year.
