Roll Call; John Brose, present, Jeff Rosebrook, absent, Terry Cook, present, and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Bonnie Brose, Dave Cook, Doug Henry, Jessica Gibson and Kailen Gibson.
The purpose of this meeting is our Year-end meeting.
All stood and said the Pledge of Allegiance.
Trustees signed the checks.
Mrs. Bonnie Brose thanked the township for helping with the PTEC events throughout the year.
Fire Chief Doug Henry brought up about a RIT pack. (Rapid Intervention Team). It’s like an SCBA to take into a fire. This would help for a down fireman. We already have the tank. We would need a regulator, strapping and the hose. This pack costs $362.00. There will be training on this before it would go into service. This comes from FSS. Mr. Terry Cook made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. John Brose. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Rosebrook, absent.
Chief Henry brought up about the gear grid, there is a secure box you can get for each separate grid and Doug would like to have them. That way he can put pay checks in these boxes and they won’t have lay in a drawer anymore. There is a slot in this box. Each ff/ems could put personal items these as well. They would put their own personal padlock on this box. He would like to have 25 of these boxes and would cost around $1,311.00. Mr. Brose made a motion form said purchase, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Rosebrook, absent.
Chief Henry reported that the grass truck is acting up again. It’s not shifting right and there seems to be a short in the dash as well. After some discussion, Trustees agreed to see if Payne would take a look at it. John will call him and get it set up.
Chief Henry brought up about this company called Knox Company; they make a box that holds a key to get into homes that have the alert system. It would be a key for the fire dept. that would open all these boxes and inside these boxes would be the resident’s key for their home. Chief would like to get 6 of these boxes for now at $179.00 each. Mr. John Brose made a motion for said purchase, seconded by Mr. Terry Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Rosebrook, absent. There will not be a charge to the resident. Chief stated that there would be a key in each vehicle.
Chief asked for the status on the heaters at the fire house? John said he thought the guy would be here already to work on them, but he hasn’t showed up yet. Hopefully he will be here this week to work on them.
John brought up about the softener for the firehouse? Do you want the soft water going to the garden hose too, to wash the trucks? That would take a lot of salt. We will try it for a while and see how it goes. If you use too much salt we will cut you off.
Where is the skid of salt going to go? They will put it over in the other building. We need to call Eaton and get this started.
Are we going to run the gas line to the water heater? Yes we will run it over to the water heater.
Mr. Dave Cook, squad chief reported they are up to 138 runs for the year.
Dave brought up about the garage doors at the firehouse. There are large gaps on the bottom and that is letting a lot of heat out. John said he has the guy coming to look at the doors at the shop and he will have them look at the ones at the firehouse while he is here.
Mr. Terry Cook reported that the culverts are all done.
Terry has had a couple funerals.
Terry purchased a new jack.
John would like to check on a bucket for the backhoe, he would like to get a bigger one. He will talk to Bobcat. Terry is afraid the backhoe won’t handle a bigger bucket.
John would like to have a bigger bucket for digging of the graves when the ground is frozen. Terry thinks it might be better to make a shelter and put heat around the spot for the grave and thaw the ground out some. West Liberty has something like this and the Trustees said maybe they will go and look at what they got.
Mrs. Stalling had a letter for Chief Henry to sign for the West Mansfield Bank for the fire dept.’s personal checking account. Doug needs to sign it and take it to the Bank.
Mr. John Brose made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Mr. Terry Cook. Brose, yes and Cook, yes, Rosebrook, absent.
