The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Special Session on Monday,
December 30, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. by virtual phone call. Roll Call; John Brose, present, Terry Cook, present, John Baughman, present and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Bonnie Brose, Doug Henry, and Kyle Brugler.
The purpose of this meeting is our Year-end meeting.
Chairman, Mr. Brose said the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chairman asked if there any additions or corrections to the minutes or the financial reports from the fiscal officer? All stand approved.
Mr. Terry Cook reported that the sidewalk beside the Lodge Hall is finished and they did a good job.
Mr. Cook reported that he had a couple funerals this week.
Mr. Cook reported that he went and got a load of gravel from Duff’s for the cemeteries.
Mrs. Stalling brought up about getting members for the VFFDF for 2021 Mr. Brose made motion that the members for the Legislative Authority be John Baughman and Terry Cook, the members from the Fire Dept. would be Sandy Wilcox and Kyle Brugler and the other member would be Doug Henry, seconded by Mr. Baughman. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes. The Chairperson will be Mr. Baughman and the Secretary will be Mr. Terry Cook.
Mrs. Stalling asked how many runs the fire dept. had taken this year? Mr. Brugler said as of today 202. He will get me the figures as of Dec 31, and how many are fire runs and how many are EMS runs.
Mrs. Stalling has received her certified annual notice of exemption from the State Treasury Office.
Mrs. Stalling reported that BWC is sending employers a premium refund and Perry Township received $$56,699.00.
Fire Chief, Mr. Doug Henry, reported that we are receiving $42,380.73 in a MARC radio grant from the State Fire Marshalls office. 12 department in Logan County got money from this grant. Chief stated that we could pay our user fees out of this money. Trustees told the Chief that they appreciated the dept. filing for this grant. Chief said that all fire depts. are to be on MARCs radios by the middle of this year. Chief said he is going to be putting in for some new equipment and get rid of some of the old. Mr. Brose asked if there were a deadline as to when this money had to be spent, Chief would check into this. The Chief asked for this amount of money in the grant.
Chief brought up about giving the personnel at the fire department a raise in their wages. Maybe a $1.00 across the board for hourly employees and then for weekend and holidays raising the pay. Maybe an extra $2.00 per hour for the weekend guys and holidays an extra $4.00 per hour. This might help to get coverage at the department all the time. The officers at the fire dept. have discussed this and Chief will have something together before our re-organizational meeting in January. Chief stated that he would still like to have an extra man at the department on the weekends.
Chief bought up about a training that 4 personnel from the department would like to take. It is a Training Assistance Request and is a Blue Card Command class. It is a 50-hour class that is done on line at their own convenience it costs $385.00 per student. Therefore, with 4 it would be $1,540.00. They would have 1 year to complete it and 1 day of command stimulation at the end of the course. The Ohio Fire Chief Association endorses it. Mr. Cook made a motion to send the 4 to this class, seconded by Mr. Brose. Brose, yes, Cook, yes, and Baughman, yes.
Chief brought up that he talked to Chief Randy Ripple, Richwood Fire Dept. about Jim Collins turnout gear. He said he was fine with the $800.00 we agreed on last meeting; we just need to send him an invoice. Chief will get what info needs to be on the invoice and get it to Cindy. She will then send them an invoice.
