The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Regular Session on Monday,
December 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Liberty Community Room. Roll Call: John Brose, present, Terry Cook, present, John Baughman, present and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Bonnie Brose, Linda Baldridge, Larry Wellington, Doug Mercer, Doug Henry, Jim Collins, Jason Epp, and Dan Coats.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Mr. John Brose and all said the Pledge of Alligence.
The minutes of the previous meeting was given to the Trustees to read prior to this meeting. Mr. Brose asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes and then asked if there were any additions or corrections to the financial statements that were given to the Trustees from the fiscal officer. They both stand approved by the trustees.
Fire Chief, Mr. Doug Henry, brought up about getting a pay raise for the firemen. He would like to get $1.00 across the board down there. That would take the 3 Lieutenants to $16.00 per hour, the Medics to $15.25 and the Basics to $13.25. He would like to leave the on call pay as is. After some discussion, Mr. John Brose made a motion to accept the raises, seconded by Mr. Terry Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes. This raise will take effect as of January 1, 2020.
Chief reported that as of Dec 1 they had made 289 runs this year. 108 fire runs, 181 squad runs and 109 of these runs were mutual aid runs.
Chief reported that he has been talking to LuAnn Davis, fire chief at Jefferson Township. Ms. Davis told Chief Henry that she has called the Logan County Sheriff’s office and has put Perry Township as the 1st call on their run sheet for Mad River Mountain. Mr. Brose is concerned that if our squad is out to the Mountain and we would get a run.
There is no contract with Jefferson about us being the 1st called on her run sheet. It is in effect at the point of her making the change with the County Sherriff’s office. This is still like a mutual aid service. Mr. Brose had concerns that if we are at the Mountain and we here at Perry Twp we have a run, if this would happen, the County would automatically call our mutual aid to cover our run.
Chief Henry is going to set up a meeting with Jefferson Twp. Ms. Davis is setting up a meeting, Chief will let us know when he hears back from her with a date for a meeting.
This is to discuss getting a district together. After much discussion, Mr. Brose still has worries.
Chief would like to get a box for the utility truck. There is a box that would fit into the bed of the truck. It is 8” tall and Chief would like to get that so they could put supplies in this box and it would just be pulled out when they need it. It is dust proof, lockable. This box would not interfere with the hose and etc. that is already on the truck.
The box for the bed of the utility truck, would fill the bed about ½ way. It is
fromTruck Vault and costs $1,836.00. Mr. Baughman made a motion to purchase this
box, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Baughman, yes.
Chief brought up about the cot and the loading system. He is waiting on a return call
from the Stryker representative to get back with him or Kyle Brugler.

his Level 1 firefighter class, that will be done in April. Chelsea Laycock is taking this
class as well. Mr. Epp is also going to join the Logan County HazMat team.

in November from the Logan County Board of Elections. Both levies passed.
Mrs. Stalling reported that she received paperwork on the papers that we destroyed after the flooding in the basement of the Community Room. We didn’t need to go through the County, we just needed to send the paperwork to the State. Mrs. Stalling has re-filed the paperwork with the State.
Mr. John Baughman reported that he had a tree blow down in the North Greenfield Cemetery. It knocked down 8 tombstones. The Trustees have 2 estimates coming in on this. The tree also will need to be cut. We need to check and see I f the Insurance will pay for any of this.
