The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Regular Session on Monday,
December 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Liberty Community Room. Roll Call: John Brose, present, Jeff Rosebrook, absent, Terry Cook, present and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Doug Mercer, Doug Henry, Joy Litteral, Jessica Gibson, Mitch Current, James Collins, Linda Baldridge, Bonnie Brose, Dan Coats, Larry Wellington, Tim Stalling and John Baughman.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mr. John Brose and all said the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the previous meeting was given to the Trustees to read prior to this meeting. Mr. Brose asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes and then asked if there were any additions or corrections to the financial statements that were given to the Trustees from the fiscal officer. They both stand approved by the trustees.
Mrs. Bonnie Brose reported that the Santa was a big hit. There was sleigh rides and the 4th grade choir from Benjamin Logan Elementary came and sang. They did a great job and asked if they could come back next year.
Mr. Larry Wellington reported that Kyle Brugler passed his fire instructor schooling.
Larry stated that the SOG’s are done, they just need to be printed out. The SOP’s are about done also. Then they will go to our lawyer to be approved. Mr. Brose told Larry to tell Kristy how much we appreciated what she has done. And she did a good job.
Mrs. Joy Litteral thanked the fire dept for rescuing her basement. They were out that night until about 1 a.m. pumping out basements. Joy said that they have never had that much water in their basement before.
Mr. Doug Henry had paperwork for a new pumper/tanker truck. They have been working on these specs for quite a while. The quotes were from Sutphen for $540,000.00 and from Fire Safety Services for $487,489.00. The truck from FSS (Smell) is 2’ longer than the one from Sutphen and it will not fit in the firehouse. The truck from Sutphen if ordered before the end of the year we can save 3%. John was not comfortable with the difference in the prices of the two trucks. Mitch suggested that the Trustees give the fire dept a maximum amount they can spend on a truck. Sutphen has not had a price raise in the last 18 months, but they will be having an increase after the 1st of the year. Both of these bids are state bids. After a lot of discussion, Mr. Brose said to let them think about this, and we have another township meeting later this month. There has been a lot thrown at them here and want an answer is a short period of time.
Fire Chief Doug Henry reported that his office is pretty much done.
Mr. Brose brought up about advertising in the Examiner for a Medic. He told the Chief to write something up and get to Cindy so she can put it in the paper. Chief reported that they have 2 applications right now, but they are FF/EMT’s no medics. They have not interviewed either of these applicants.
Mr. Brose is going to have another meeting with the lawyer. He has some questions that need to be answered.
Mitch reported that they would like to have 2 parking blocks for the fire house.
Mr. Brose brought up that someone got something at the West Mansfield Hardware, and we could not read their signature. They need to write legible when they get things over there.
Mr. Terry Cook reported that the roof at the LodgeHall is leaking. They are coming out to look at it on Dec. 18.
