The Board of Perry Township Trustees met in Regular Session on Monday,
June 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Liberty Community Room. Roll Call: John Brose, present, Jeff Rosebrook, present, Terry Cook, present and Cindy Stalling, present. Also present was Bonnie Brose, Doug Mercer, Josh Levan, Kacy Welty, Doug Henry, Jeff Pontsler, Aaron Litwin, Dave Cook, Ron Perry, Terry Riley, Dave Frangis, Pup McColloch, Jessica Gibson, Joy Litteral, Larry Wellington, Kurt Penhorwood, Chuck and Jenny Boudrow.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mr. John Brose and all said the Pledge of Alligence.
The minutes of the previous meeting was given to the Trustees prior to the meeting along with the financial reports. The minutes and the financial reports stand approved by the Trustees.
Mrs. Bonnie Brose reported that July 9th is fireworks day.
Mr. Doug Henry, Assist Fire Chief reported that they have had 20 fire runs which includes mutual aid/ accident/systematic.
Doug reported that they are looking into a ladder lift for the engine, the original one is not working very good, sometimes they have to manually push the ladder back in place. Doug called the company and they said this lift is a maximum of 350 # and it is probably there now. It would cost $1,000.00 to make it a maximum of 500#. Don’t know who would put these parts in either Sutphen or TRC. They need to be put on by a professional mechanic. After some discussion, Doug is suppose to get more information before the next meeting.
Mr. Jeff Pontsler, of RC Communications was here to show us some new pagers. Kacy stayed that there has been some pager problems and some of the tones aren’t going through at times. Mr. Postler went over the pagers/radios he had with him. He said that by the end of June we can trade-in a Miniator 5 or 6 pager and get $100.00 off of their pager for $395.00, originally $495.00. Mr. Pontsler went over how they charge and he passed out information on what they have product wise to all the Trustees. These are VHF pagers and they won’t be able to change over to the Marx when we have to go the Marx radios. John stated that the Logan County Sheriff’s office is having a meeting on August 13 about the Marx radios. (Marx is just the antennae system.) After a lot of discussion, we are going to wait and see what the August 13th meeting is and go from there. Trustees thanked Mr. Pontsler for coming to the meeting and presenting his products.
Aaron Litwin brought up about getting a new bed for the fire house. They would like to go from a full size bed to a XL twin size bed. Aaron had quotes from several, different bed companies. Mattress Firm had the best reviews. After looking over the information and quotes, Mr. Terry Cook, made a motion to purchase the XL twin bed from Mattress Firm, seconded by Mr. Jeff Rosebrook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Rosebrook, yes. This has a 5 yr. warranty.
Squad Chief, Dave Cook, reported that they have had 48 squad runs. He asked about the BWC grant? It has been approved and we are waiting on the money to be deposited into our checking account.
Mr. Ron Perry is trying to sell his rental house on Hamilton Street. His realtor told him that if they would put in a new sewer system they would have a better option for selling the house. A discharging system has to be installed according to the Logan County Health Department. Ron wanted to know is he would have to have permission from Perry Township to discharge into our storm sewer? Mr. Brose told him he has to get an OK from the EPA. Ron had an application for EPA. John told him he doesn’t have a problem if the EPA passes it. John said that we need to finds out who the storm drain belongs to us or the county. John said that he will call the EPA about the application, Is it a National Pollutate Discharge Elimination System Permit? Ron said it is form 4494. Ron will come back next month to our meeting and see what John and him have found out.
Mr. Terry Riley wanted to know about our mosquito fogging, what fund does that come out of? Mrs. Stalling told him it comes out of the Road Fund. Mr. Riley wanted to know where all we fog? We spray East Liberty to the edge of town in all directions. Mr. Riley wanted to know why we don’t spray North Greenfield? We told him that it’s clear out in the country and we just spray East Liberty. John said that we do spray East Liberty Cemetery. Mr. Riley wanted to know if we spray Yankee Town? After some discussion, Mr. Brose made a motion to start spraying the cemeteries, North Greenfield and Yankee Town, seconded by Mr. Terry Cook. Brose, yes Cook, yes and Rosebrook, yes. Mr. Josh Levan, our mosquito fogger agreed to do this.
Mr. Mitch Current reported that the ladder testing will be tomorrow.
The engine is going in for testing, and the squad is going in for service.
Mrs. Joy Litteral brought up that the County EMS is looking for volunteers for the booth at the Logan County Fair. Joy said that the street light by the old gas station is crazy. It keeps going on and off all the time. John has already called it in and reported it.
Mr. Larry Wellington would like to have some reflective ID labels for their tools at the fire dept. They are 100 for $59.95. Jeff made a motion for said purchase, seconded by John. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Rosebrook, yes. John will make the purchase.
Mr. Kurt Penhorwood had a bill for spraying weeds on the roads for $225.00. He also had an estimate to seal the walking tracks at the park, to seal and stripe the basketball court for $2,500.00. He also had an estimate to seal the road around the ball diamond, the road down to the park and the firehouse parking lot for $4,018.00. The total is $6,518.00. Mr. Rosebrook made a motion to do all the sealing, seconded by Mr. Cook. Brose, yes, Cook, yes and Rosebrook, yes. He will have the work done at the park before the July 9th celebration.
Mr. Terry Cook reported that they have been doing A LOT of work at the park. They have also put down pea gravel under the playground equipment.
Mr. Jeff Rosebrook reported that the well and the pump are done at the LodgeHall and the water has passed the Logan County Health Department.
Mr. John Brose reported that the new road signs are up.
The fence is up at the park.
Dave has mowed the ditches.
John looked into the expression swing that some residents are asking for, it is too expensive. It is $1,100.00.
The squad bill for Tim Levan was brought up again, and after a lot of discussion it was agreed to write off this bill. Cindy will contact Robinaugh and let them know this.
We still need to get the variance to Howard Traul, he needs the original.
The Ford dump truck need to get some work done on it.
Mrs. Bonnie Brose would like to have a dumpster for the park on July 9th.
